Scheduling posts

Why did my post fail?

What "Failed" and "Partly published" mean, how to see the reason, how to retry, and the most common fixes.

Updated

When a network does not accept a post, Fluxi marks it and keeps the reason the network gave.

  • Failed means the post did not go out to any of its networks.
  • Partly published means it went out to some networks but not others.

To find them, open Posts and choose Needs attention in the status filter. Click a post to open its details, which list each network with what happened there and, for each one that failed, the reason. Fluxi also emails you when a post fails, with a link straight to it.

Common reasons and fixes

Fluxi explains each failure in plain words. The most common ones:

"Your connection has expired or was revoked" or "Fluxi doesn't have permission to do this." The network no longer accepts Fluxi's access. Reconnect the account, then retry the post. See Reconnect an account.

"…couldn't process the media on this post." Networks have rules beyond what can be checked before posting, such as video length, resolution and file size. Choose Edit & retry, replace the file with one that meets the network's requirements, and schedule it again.

"…rejected the post's content" or "…rejected this as a duplicate of a recent post." Some networks refuse duplicate posts, or text containing certain links. Choose Edit & retry and change the text for that network.

"…is limiting how often this account can post" or "…had a problem on its side." These are temporary. Wait a while, then use Retry.

"…took too long to respond." The post may have gone out anyway. Check the account on the network before retrying, so it is not posted twice.

You hit a limit on the free trial. The trial allows two scheduled posts a day. Fluxi normally stops you when you schedule, but check What the free trial includes.

Try again

  • Retry sends the post again straight away. It is on the post's row in Posts and in the post's details. Use it when the cause was temporary, or once you have reconnected the account.
  • Edit & retry opens the post in the composer, so you can fix the text or media first and pick a new time.

Either way, Fluxi only retries the networks that failed. Networks where the post was already published are left alone, so nothing is posted twice.

Posts are never marked failed because a subscription lapsed. They are held in the queue and publish as soon as billing is restored.

If the reason does not make sense, or the same post keeps failing, email support@tryfluxi.com with the post's time and network.
